Private Lessons
Private lessons will be held each week. Depending on the age and skill level of the student, lessons are 30, 45, or 60 minute lessons. Typically, all book one students and young book two students will receive a half hour lesson. Book two students will receive 45 minutes while book three and above will take 60 minute lessons.
The Suzuki method is used with supplemental materials that enrich the learning experience. Memorization and ear training are stressed. Accommodations for students who take part in school orchestra or are already note readers will be made.
Concerts
We will have two to three concerts a year. In addition, students are encouraged to perform for family and friends, or at school or church.
Fees and Scheduling
Fees are due on the first lesson of each month. Although prices are listed per lesson, payment per month is required. This will change depending on the number of lessons during a given month.
If you cannot make a scheduled lesson and you give me 24 hours notice, I will schedule a make-up lesson. If you cancel your lesson the day, however, I will not be able to make up your missed lesson. Please assume that if your child is ill the day before a lesson, they will be ill the day of their lesson. Refunds and credits are not given for missed lessons. Make ups that are cancelled will not be rescheduled.
On the following page is the 2008-2009 schedule. This is for planning purposes only and may need to be adjusted during the year. Students will be advised of any changes promptly.

Preparation for Lessons
To make sure your child gets the most out of his or her lessons, please allow for adequate practice time each day. The amount of time will vary on the age and level of the student.
I try to make learning fun, however, being unprepared makes lessons difficult for both teacher and student. Students who come to lessons prepared have a sense of accomplishment that will boost their self esteem.
Children 10 and under need direction and assistance during home practice, while older students will require less vigilant assistance.
Parental Requirements
Parents of students under 10 are required to attend all lessons. This is for your childs safety. It is alright, if on occasion, an older sibling needs to bring the student; however, they will also be required to attend the lesson. It also helps if you take notes to help your child practice during the week.
If you drop off and older student, make sure you arrive promptly at the end of the scheduled lesson time for pick up.
Sibling Requests
I understand that siblings may need to attend lessons along with their brother or sister. Please bring a quiet activity for the sibling and make sure they do not leave the studio room.
Cell Phones
It is very distracting to have cell phones ring during lessons. I will make sure my phone is off and I will ask parents to do the same. If you need to take an emergency call during a lesson, please exit the studio.
About the Instructor
I began violin instruction at age 9 in Flower Mound, Texas. I took Suzuki lessons for the next 2 ½ years when my family moved to Marietta, Georgia. I continued playing in my school orchestra and taking lessons. I attended the University of Georgia at Athens and received my Bachelor of Music Degree. I taught middle school orchestra for two years and went back to school for my Master of Arts degree from Tennessee Technological University.
I began teaching private lessons as a college undergraduate. I have received Suzuki training and plan to continue my Suzuki education. I have taught students as young as 2 ½ as well as retired grandmothers.
I have played professionally and semi-professionally with the Toccoa (Georgia) Symphony, the Gainesville (Georgia) Symphony, the Cobb (Georgia) Symphony Orchestra, the Bryan (Tennessee) Symphony Orchestra, and most recently the Henderson (Nevada) Symphony Orchestra where I was privileged to serve as principal second violin. I have also played many weddings, receptions and other special events.
I have a wonderful and supportive husband and two beautiful children, Connor (4 ½) and Emily (1).
