Studio Information

About I Artisti The words I Artisti means “The Artists” in Italian. I Artisti was organized in 2004 and performs regularly in Orange County and Los Angeles County. We are in association with the Biola Conservatory of Music and our weekly rehearsals take place on the beautiful campus of Biola University. As an educational program, we provide high-level orchestral training for beginning, intermediate and advanced young musicians, ages from 8 to 18 under the guidance of professional teachers. There are two groups in I Artisti which include the I Aritisti Chamber Players (Age 12 and under) and I Artisti Chamber Orchestra. The experience involves opportunities to perform traditional and contemporary masterworks, to play solo repertoire with the orchestra, and to develop leadership and discipline while cultivating an appreciation of music and the arts in the community. Artistic Director, Jiyoung Um is a graduate of The Juilliard School receiving his bachelor and master degree in violin performance. He has given solo performances at Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center and has been featured as a soloist around the world including in the U.S., Canada, Asia, and Central America. Mr. Um is an award-winning ASCAP composer and has a number of works released on the SONY MUSIC label. He studied violin with Hyo Kang, viola with Eugean Becker, conducting with Dino Anagnost, and chamber music with William Lincer and Toby Appel. Currently, Mr. Um is the founding music director of the I Artisti Chamber Orchestra, and served as the music director of Biola Youth String Orchestra. He is a string faculty member in the Biola University Conservatory of Music.
