I love the violin, I love people (especially children), and I love to teach. I have been teaching violin for seven years. I am currently finishing the last year of my Bachelor of Music degree. I believe that any child can learn to play the violin provided that the child is given lots of encouragement and a good environment for learning. I believe in my students and I expect much from them. Children rise to the occasion when they sense that I believe in them. It is rewarding to watch my students progress. I am so proud of every one of them. Enthusiasm is contagious and I enjoy watching it spread to my precious students. My goal is to bring out the full potential in each student.
I teach a combination of Suzuki repertoire, scales and studies until about Suzuki level 4 at which point I supplement other repertoire as well as the Suzuki repertoire. I have a deep appreciation for the Suzuki philosophy and much of it is incorporated in my teaching. Lessons are 30, 45, and 60 minutes in length, depending on the level of the student. I love teaching beginners as well as more advanced students. I enjoy working with adult students as well as young children. I will be happy to share my studio policy with interested potential students when they contact me by phone or email.
Studying music contributes to self discipline, concentration, responsibility, teamwork, confidence and self-esteem, as well as tremendous personal enjoyment! Whether the student aspires to become a professional musician or simply enjoy music as a hobby, it is my joy to train them to discover and utilize their God - given talents by giving them the tools they need to start on a life long passion for music.
South Bend, Indiana and Berrien Springs, Michigan are the two locations where I teach. You can take individual lessons in both locations, but group classes are only held in South Bend.
