There's an App for That

Here are some of the favorite apps for teaching music as shared by string teachers at the 2011 ASTA conference in Kansas City, MO

	Draw for Free - a good sketching tool that can be used to show musical examples
	Hey (formerly Big Words) - a simple app that displays a message full screen on the iPad as a reminder to students
	Voice Memo - this is just the built-in audio recorder that comes with the iPhone/iPod touch, but it's great for recording students
	Beats - a good metronome for iPhone/iPod touch
	Tempo - another good metronome
	Pitch-Pro - provides tuning pitches
	Audio Tuner - Visual tuner for string instruments
	Wolfram Alpha - Music theory training app
	Karajan - Ear trainer and music theory app
